Transmec India meets a huge logistics challenge
Transmec India’s organisational expertise ensured the successful delivery of its largest-ever transport project.
The team overcame a series of challenges to move 1,800 cubic metres of vital manufacturing equipment to Mumbai port and then by sea to a plant in Alexandria, Egypt.
Managed for a longstanding client, the shipment included 20 separate items, sourced from three manufacturing facilities located hundreds of kilometres from Mumbai in Pune, Solapur, and Hyderabad.
With several oversized pieces, each measuring up to 175 cubic metres and weighing 116 metric tons, the project required specialised escorts to guide the loads safely to the port.
“Coordinating the goods’ arrival with the vessel’s loading schedule was critical,” explained Anil Malhotra, Transmec India’s managing director.
“Our team in Mumbai managed everything superbly – the planning and timing was spot on.”
Alongside its Mumbai branch, Transmec India operates from New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
Founded in 2006, the division provides a comprehensive range of forwarding services, including sea freight, air freight and customs brokerage.
Branch teams manage a wide range of freight, including industrial machinery, equipment, and electrical and automotive components.
