Turkey to Ecuador: smooth sailing for heavy cargo
From meticulous planning to flawless execution, Transmec Turkey recently demonstrated its project cargo prowess by delivering nine oversized LPG tank trailers halfway across the world.
Moving oversized cargo across continents is a logistical puzzle that leaves no room for error.
When Transmec Turkey was tasked with transporting nine massive LPG tank trailers from Turkey to Ecuador via sea freight, the team faced a classic Out-of-Gauge (OOG) challenge.
These units could not fit into standard containers, requiring specialized 40’ Flat Rack (40FR) equipment and a highly tailored operational strategy to ensure a safe journey across the oceans.
The success of this complex project boiled down to rigorous upfront planning and seamless multimodal coordination.
Transmec’s specialists managed every phase of the operation, from securing the hard-to-find Flat Rack containers to overseeing port and terminal handling.
Because OOG shipments are highly sensitive to weight distribution and movement, Transmec provided strict, professional lashing and securing supervision at the port, guaranteeing the cargo remained entirely immobile throughout its long maritime transit.
By flawlessly bridging the gap between land and sea operations, Transmec turned a high-risk logistical challenge into a routine, on-schedule delivery.
Timuçin Koç, Operations Manager at Transmec Türkiye, commented on the success of the operation: "Every complex shipment is a testament to what can be achieved when engineering precision meets seamless global teamwork.
“Moving these oversized units safely across the ocean wasn't just about handling cargo; it was about delivering peace of mind and proving that no destination is out of reach when you have the right expertise behind you."
