Continuing growth in India after 20 successful years

Further expansion is in the pipeline as Transmec’s fast-growing division in India celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Founded in Delhi in 2006 by an initial team of just three, Transmec India now has 47 employees spread across five branches.

The Mumbai branch opened in 2007, followed by Chennai in 2008, Bengaluru in 2014 and Hyderabad in 2016.

Eyeing continuing growth, plans are in the pipeline to open new offices in Pune and Ahmedabad.

Transmec India is a full-service freight forwarder, offering complete air and ocean services, door-to-door deliveries and project handling.

Managing freight from India to global destinations, it provides regular services to the EU, including Italy, Spain and Romania, as well as the UK.

Country managing director Anil Malhotra has led Transmec India’s development throughout the past 20 years.

It has been very successful. Transmec rightly recognised the need to have a presence in India due to its increasing economic importance as an emerging market in Asia,” he explained.

Our growth in the past two decades has been fuelled by a booming Indian economy, which remains buoyant – for example, our turnover has increased by 15 per cent in the past two years.

Transmec India remains strategically important to the Group, with growing India-EU trade, which should expand further once the free trade agreement is concluded in the near future. A trade deal with the UK has already been signed, and this is providing further opportunities for us. There’s no sign of things slowing down.”
