Over twenty years of achievements with a smile: Irene’s farewell

A story of leadership rooted in people, values and resilience

After more than twenty years at Transmec Turin, Branch Manager Irene Colombo is preparing to retire. We met with her to reflect on her journey, her approach to leadership, and the moments that have defined her career.

When Irene speaks about the Turin office, she goes beyond dates and milestones. Her story is, above all, about people, growth, and the ability to evolve together over time.

Founded in 2001, Transmec Turin took its first steps in a context full of change and new challenges.
At the beginning, everything was new,” Irene recalls. “There were questions and uncertainties, but also a strong curiosity and a real willingness to build something meaningful together.”

From the outset, the team embraced the challenge with determination.
The increase in workload never intimidated us,” she says. “We quickly made the Transmec working system our own, and growth followed naturally.

As with any long journey, the years brought moments of transformation, reorganisations, and new phases. Yet these experiences helped strengthen both the team and the organisation.

Over time, we built a solid balance,” Irene explains. “One that has allowed us to work with confidence and face each new challenge with clarity and cohesion.”

At the heart of this stability lies Irene’s leadership style: present, consistent, and grounded in trust.

I’ve always believed in addressing situations with calm, fairness, and respect,” she says. “These values create the right environment for people to do their best work.”

For Irene, leadership is first and foremost about being there for others.

A good branch manager supports their team, encourages them to grow, and approaches challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles.”

Today, the Turin branch is a well-established reality, contributing to the Transmec Group’s strong presence in Piedmont and beyond.

When asked what she will carry with her into this new chapter, Irene’s answer is immediate.

The relationships,” she says. “The trust, the shared moments, and the affection I’ve received over the years.” She adds a thought that reflects her approach to leadership: “No one ever stops learning, especially if they know how to listen.”

As retirement approaches, Irene looks ahead with her characteristic calm and gentle humour.

I certainly won’t miss the early morning alarm,” she admits with a smile, “but I will miss the daily exchanges, the laughter, and the sense of being part of a team.

Her farewell is a heartfelt, collective thank-you.

To the team, "for the collaboration, willingness, and continuous mutual support."

To management, "for the trust placed in me over all these years."

To colleagues across all offices, to drivers and warehouse staff, "who support us daily in our work."

And a clear message to those who remain: "The successful continuation of this journey depends entirely on you. Always look forward with confidence and positivity."
