Modena Rugby 1965 soars into Serie A

A perfect season, a well-deserved achievement: on Sunday 6 April, Modena Rugby 1965 secured promotion to Serie A, with one match day to spare in the national Serie B championship.

After 12 years, the Modena-based team returns to the second division of Italian rugby, closing the second half of the season with 7 wins out of 8 matches played.

It’s a result that confirms the strength of the sporting project built over time and supported by local organisations such as Transmec Group, which has long stood by the club.

“This promotion,” commented Enrico Freddi, President of Modena Rugby 1965, “marks the culmination of a journey that began in 2014, when we brought together the senior and youth sectors to found Modena Rugby 1965.

“Our aim was to aim high with our own strength, without shortcuts, by developing homegrown talent. We were patient, we entrusted the teams to capable coaches, and we have managed to achieve an important milestone.”
