Bespoke distribution solution leads to flourishing relationship

A great example of this is our relationship with Sunrise Medical. Dedicated to improving people’s lives, Sunrise Medical designs, manufactures and distributes mobility aids and its bespoke products are sold in more than 130 countries.
Our proactive approach, coupled with our membership of United Pallet Network (UPN) - the UK’s fastest-growing palletized freight membership organisation – struck an instant chord with the company when it was looking for a new provider and within weeks of being introduced in 2013, we started working together.
Since then, our relationship has flourished and Transmec is now Sunrise Medical’s main provider of distribution services in the UK. We also provide extra warehousing capability and storage for the company at our Redditch depot.

As part of the contract, Transmec collects up to 80 pallets of products at least twice a day from Sunrise Medical’s offices in the West Midlands. These are then taken to UPN’s centrally-located hub at Fradley Park, Lichfield, from where they are transported to care homes, NHS facilities and distributors across the UK.
Prior to working with Transmec, a key challenge for Sunrise Medical was ensuring its goods arrived at their final destination undamaged.
Following the introduction of robust quality control procedures by Transmec and UPN, this issue has been virtually resolved.
Access to UPN’s track and trace system has also enabled Sunrise Medical to significantly reduce administration time – a major bonus for Kevin and his team.
