Transmec

Transmec’s quality is recognised by SQAS

Transmec’s delivery of safe, high-quality logistics solutions has been recognised in an independent assessment.

The SQAS (Safety & Quality Assessment for Sustainability) assessment system shows that Transmec Italy is outscoring most other European logistics providers.

Specially designed for logistics companies, SQAS assessments cover quality, safety, security, the environment and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

In two criteria – its management system and its emergency preparedness – Transmec scored 100 per cent, whilst security, risk management and site operations were also particularly high-scoring.

Transmec Group’s Europe quality manager, Marco Barozzi, said: “The SQAS system is completely independent, so our customers can completely trust its findings.

“The assessment highlights Transmec’s strong management in all key areas. We’re very encouraged by the results and will use them to drive further improvement.”

An important tool in the risk management of logistics operations, SQAS was first established by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) in the 1990s.

Its main aim is to improve security standards in the transport, storage and handling of goods, particularly hazardous substances such as chemicals.

Transmec Italy’s assessment was carried out by Bureau Veritas s.p.a., a leading body in the provision of testing, inspection and certification services.

Other quality initiatives and standards followed and achieved by Transmec include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) and TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association).
