Transmec marks ten years with Kettler GB

Transmec has proved that responsiveness is key to long-term client relationships as it marks ten years of working for Kettler GB.

Providing a range of family leisure products, including garden furniture, barbecues, toys and fitness equipment, Kettler GB has grown rapidly over the last decade.

Turnover at the Redditch-based company has doubled to £20 million and near-neighbour Transmec has been on hand to meet its changing storage and distribution needs.

“Transmec’s strength is that they have always able to accommodate everything we’ve thrown at them,” said Paul Bevington, Kettler GB’s managing director.

“Initially our storage requirements were relatively small but they’ve grown and become more complex as our product mix and manufacturing operation has evolved. Online sales through retailers such as John Lewis have also had a major impact.

“Our garden furniture range in particular has not only grown in popularity, it’s also increased in size and this has put pressure on the warehousing and logistics side that Transmec has been able to absorb.”

The last 12 months Transmec has increased its capacity with the opening of a 110,000 sq ft warehouse on the outskirts of Worcester.

Two-thirds of Kettler GB’s stock is now stored in the facility on Shire Business Park, with the remainder kept in its own warehouse at Redditch.

And 2019 will see members of the Kettler team move to offices at the Worcester warehouse to be closer to the logistics operation during peak periods.

General manager of Transmec UK, John Simkins said: “The move marks the next stage of our relationship and will see us working even more closely as we focus on the next ten years. We look forward to welcoming them to Worcester.”
