Precision management for special load to the Far East
Transmec provided hands-on support as a special load began its 10,000 nautical-mile (18,500 km) journey from Italy to South Korea.
Francesca Rossi, branch manager of the Group’s Air Ocean Division in Prato, was on site to help load the 41-tonne tile press on behalf of long-standing client OCEM.
Encased in a 4.5m-high wooden crate, the load left OCEM’s factory at Cascine del Riccio, Florence, bound for the port of La Spezia and a direct sea freight service to Busan, taking around 37 days.
“Being there to personally supervise the loading was a great experience and proved really useful in understanding more about the freight that we manage from our offices on a daily basis,” explained Francesca.
“The crate was huge and measured precisely to fit under the warehouse door with a clearance of just three centimetres! Special thanks to the OCEM team for allowing me to assist.”
