High-tech WMS boosts Transmec’s logistics provision

Transmec has stepped up its multichannel logistics solutions with the introduction of a state-of-the-art warehouse management system.

Optimising its warehouse operations, the new WMS has already been launched at Transmec’s biggest hubs in Italy, the UK and Poland.

These include the recently opened 25,000 sq m warehouse at near Milan, and its 14,400 sq m facility at London Gateway.

The WMS has advanced features that allow for more efficient management of storage, goods movement, and planning,” explained Simone Corradini, general manager of Transmec Log, the Group’s logistics division.

The new system is integral to Transmec’s strategy to specialise on more providing complex logistics solutions, with a strong focus on picking, packing and shipping.

At Transmec’s Campogalliano headquarters alone, Transmec Log operates 100,000 sqm of logistics warehouses, picking 35 million pieces annually and fulfilling 300,000 B2B orders and 430,000 B2C orders with an on-time in-full (OTIF) ratio of 99.6%.

The introduction of the WMS is certainly going well so far. Its implementation has helped us to further improve both efficiency and accuracy across all channels and sectors whilst retaining our trademark flexibility,” added Corradini.

Looking to the future, it will support the adoption of greater automation. It’s proving environmentally friendly too: through the substantial reduction of paper usage, the system effectively minimises waste, aligning with the company's commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
