From Bilbao to Grimsby: transporting over 2,000 tonnes by TDBG Spain
82 trucks and a dedicated ship: the TDBG Spain team has moved over 2,000 tonnes of scrap metal from Spain to the UK in a highly-precise operation.
In a highly- technical logistics operation, TDBG Spain has successfully completed a large-scale project for the transport of scrap metal from the port of Bilbao to the port of Grimsby in the UK.
Coordinated by the Bilbao branch, the operation required the chartering of the Wilson Durnes, a Barbados-flagged vessel measuring 87.9 metres in length and 12.8 metres in width, with a cargo capacity of 2,452 tonnes.
From 26 September to 16 October, the Bilbao headquarters managed a continuous flow of cargo, which saw the arrival of 82 vehicles carrying 2,006 tonnes of scrap. With a pace of 250 tonnes per hour, the team ensured quick and safe loading, maximising the full capacity of the Wilson Durnes.
Alberto Loeches, Managing Director of TDBG Spain, highlighted the value and commitment of the entire Bilbao team, stating:
"It was not an easy operation; the project required impeccable coordination, and our team rose to the challenge with determination. Each phase was managed with care, ensuring that operations ran smoothly.
Under the careful guidance of Javier Martínez Revilla, Branch Manager of the Bilbao office, every detail was handled with great attention, ensuring results that brought tangible value to the entire operation."
