Transmec

Environmental focus is recognised

Transmec’s continuing environmental awareness has been recognised with the award of ISO 14001:2015 accreditation for its UK branches.

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard which helps organisations improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

Following the lead of Transmec UK’s Bradford depot, the West Thurrock branch has now successfully passed an audit of its comprehensive environmental business management system.

“As a business, we take our environmental responsibilities extremely seriously and we want to demonstrate this to our customers and suppliers,” said Elizabeth Howe, HR/health and safety advisor.

“Throughout the West Thurrock branch we’ve formalised and documented our procedures to reflect our contribution towards the protection of the environment.”

Measures include recycling stations for five different types of waste, as well as recycling warehouse waste such as wood and cardboard.

Energy usage and cost is monitored, with monthly and year-end reports produced.

Internal audits are carried out throughout the year and the site is also maintained to a high standard to ensure there’s no negative impact on the environment.

The environmental management system at Transmec UK’s Redditch branch will be audited during 2018.
