Celebrating 20 years in Germany
Transmec is celebrating the success of its operations in Germany – 20 years after they were first launched.
Branches in Munich, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf first opened in October 1999 to handle goods to and from Italy.
Since then they have grown significantly, now managing freight movements throughout Europe and developing their own specialisms.
The Munich branch at Poing, which serves as the headquarters of Transmec De Bortoli Group (TDBG) Deutschland, is the main hub for Italy, mainly serving customers in the fashion and sports sectors.
Stuttgart specialises in services to medium-sized industrial businesses, including complex logistics, while the Düsseldorf depot at Wuppertal has become a centre for national and international transport, particularly to Italy and the UK.
In 2020 the Wuppertal branch will be moving to a bigger site at Heiligenhaus, in a prime location which provides easy access to Essen and Duisberg as well as Düsseldorf.
“The last 20 years have seen a lot of developments for all the right reasons,” said country manager Kurt Fleschütz.
“Our growth has been underpinned by the experience of our team, many of whom have been here since the start. Customers certainly appreciate the strong relationships they have built with us.”
