The UK was the site of the first overseas division set up by the Italy-based Transmec Group and it remains a vital part of its worldwide network which now extends to 40 offices in 13 countries.
“We’ve come a long way in the last 25 years, covering millions of miles for our customers and experiencing significant growth,” said John Simkins, Transmec UK’s country manager.
“Our success is based on offering a fast, secure and reliable global service plus an ability to build strong partnerships – something that hasn’t changed in the 165-year history of the Transmec Group.”
Having established its first depot in the south east, Transmec UK moved to its current site at West Thurrock in 1996. Its Bradford depot opened in 2000, followed by Redditch in 2004 and Dublin in 2008.
The four strategically-located depots now serve businesses throughout the UK and Ireland, offering a full range of transport and logistics services.
Led by a highly-experienced team, Transmec UK specialises in six core sectors: automotive, leisure, fashion, industry, construction and grocery. Customers include some extremely well-known automotive manufacturers, fashion labels and suppliers to major supermarkets.
Recent business wins include a £5.6million inbound automotive contract which sees us moving parts from suppliers to UK manufacturing plants and a £2million outbound fashion logistics contract to provide express delivery of hanging garments from the UK to Italy.
“Whilst we manage some extremely high-profile accounts we never forget the hundreds of smaller companies we work with,” added John Simkins.
“Regardless of whether it’s a full truck-load, a single pallet or a storage requirement, we pride ourselves on coming up with bespoke solutions that meet our customers’ needs and this will remain a core focus for us as we continue to grow during the next 25 years.”
